Reflecting on this past week, with 30 minutes left in the day, I am most grateful for the following:
- Movies by moonlight. Friday night Ariel (my new sweet co-worker) and I went to the Botanical Gardens and watched To Catch a Thief on the lawn. Beforehand, we lingered around Central Market picking out various picnic snacks to take with us for the movie. The movie was fun, the food was yummy and the company was awesome! I'm very happy/thankful to have a new friend and to have had a fun experience for "free"!
- Boats, bats, Belton. Saturday night Justin and I headed up to Austin to meet his family and take a riverboat tour of Ladybird Lake and to see the Congress Bridge Bats! The tour was informative and relaxing and the bats were very cool (despite being "guano"ed on!!). Afterward, we had dinner at Kerbey Lane (mmmm Lemon Poppy-seed pancakes!) and then headed up to Belton. Justin hadn't been home in two months and I don't even remember the last time I was in Belton so it was great to be able to visit for a bit.
- Aggie football. Sunday afternoon Justin and I left Belton for College Station, aka the motherland! I hadn't been back since graduating in December and it was definitely an odd feeling. On the one hand I was super pumped about tailgating, experiencing the Spirit of Aggieland, and seeing friends; on the other hand, I felt like I didn't "belong" since I'm not a student anymore...there was just an odd sense of disconnect. Despite my mixed emotions, I had a great time and have a feeling that the only cure for my "disconnect" is to connect more often by going back for more games! This is going to be a great season for Aggie football!
- The little things. My Coda kitty never fails to make me smile and I am so grateful to have such a loyal and loving companion!
